This week we lost a literary and a singer. Kurt Vonnegut was a beloved author of some of the most influential titles of our times. I unfortunately have not had the luxury of reading any of his works. I'd like to, and I will. Because I don't know much about him I'll let the link do the talking. Don Ho, a legendary performer passed this weekend. My parents went to Hawaii for their honeymoon and there are pictures of them with this legendary man. He gave us one of the most recognizable tunes of all time, "Tiny Bubbles". He actually couldn't stand performing it and would hum the tune while the audience sang the song. My father can be heard telling the story that if he hadn't been about three sheets to the wind when Don Ho kissed him, kissing audience members on stage was one of his signature moves, my father would have decked him. I don't really think he would have, but it's a funny story. The pictures show the fun and energy that must have been had by all of Don Ho's fans. Rest in peace Kurt Vonnegut & Don Ho, you both will be missed by all of your fans. Generations to come will benefit by all of your contributions.
Here's to you Mr. Vonnegut and Mr. Ho, I raise a glass and toast;
Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles) In the wine (in the wine) Make me happy (make me happy) Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)
Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles) Make me warm all over With a feeling that I'm gonna Love you till the end of time
So here's to the golden moon And here's to the silver sea And mostly here's a toast To you and me
So here's to the ginger lei I give to you today And here's a kiss That will not fade away
I have finally gotten what I've been anticipating for ohh, about 2 years. A Vacation! I have been giving this much thought & I have come to a few conclusions about it:
1) I am NOT staying @ home for this 2) I am going to go somewhere I want to go & know I'll enjoy myself 3) I don't care how much it costs!!!! 3a) Ok so i kind of care what it costs 3b) I just have to set some limits....
Have I told you all that I'm making a huge life decision yet? I entered the Manager Trainee program with Nebraska Book Company. So this will end my reign as Textbooks Manager @ the College Store and once I'm finished with this program, 8-10 months probably, I'll be running my own store, the big cheese, the head honcho, Total Control... well as much as Corporate will allow! So I will be moving again and to where i don't yet know. I'll be writing a new chapter in my book of life & this time I'm doing it for myself. I still have those aspirations of acting in life & I will accomplish that. Let's just see where this will take me, and of course, you'll be along for the ride!!
